The day the diet stood still
Today is my birthday (cheers! Thanks a lot!) and so I am eating cake and drinking Prosecco which is my new obsession after years of drinking Cava. I would drink champagne but why bother when the alternatives are honestly just as good and far more honestly priced?
I began the day the Paleo way with a full cooked breakfast. Then I had cake. And Prosecco. Ah it’s just one day a year. Well apart from Christmas. And New Year, obviously, goes without saying. Plus his birthday. Plus family birthdays. Plus celebrations of various kinds and Easter, naturally and holidays.
Cake cake CAKE!!!
That’s a lot of cake but you know if you’ve been following this that I don’t believe in forbidden foods. That said, I’m rather looking forward to getting back on the wagon. In the past when I’ve fallen off it, I’ve stayed off it. Not this time. I’m genuinely excited about returning to my diet but for today, nah, today is the day the diet stood still!
So what kind of cake I hear you ask. Well… I had a coffee eclair earlier and later I’m having a chocolate and mascarpone slice. A sort of chocolate cheesecake. Might have some young horsemeat in it though. You know. Mascarpone? Oh please yourselves…
Social media rocks
I was planning to take the day off from online activities but thought I would just check my Facebook page. I had 64 messages and still rising! What on earth could that be I wondered? And then I remembered… felt quite touched by all the birthday wishes on there. I know it’s easy as eating figs to click a quick HB on FB but even so, it’s nice. There is much to criticise about social media and our disconnected connected ways. But some things it gets right. And the whole medium is still in its infancy. Much like motor cars were at the turn of the century.
And on that note, I’m off to celebrate some more. Thanks for reading the blog. I promise I’ll return to my Paleo ways tomorrow. Or maybe the day after…
