I have decided today to go for broke on this diet. I have seven weeks till the next weigh-in which takes me neatly up to the six-month point. And it should be entirely possible to lose seven pounds in that time (3 kilos). A pound a week is NOT excessive and I still have a lot to lose.
But setting a goal like this and doing it publicly will I hope concentrate my mind in the weeks way ahead of the weigh-in because the only way I can get there is to be strict from now on.
So strict I shall be! I’ll still have the occasional piece of very dark chocolate and glass of sparkling wine but that aside, no sugar shall pass my lips save for that in berries, dark green leaves and green vegetables. I was going to keep this goal a secret and then – hopefully! – announce I’d achieved it on August 1st. But declaring my target here means I’m under FAR more pressure to get there.
And get there I shall! If I can get seven away over the next seven weeks, I’ll be down to a truly stunning 13 stone 7 (189lbs/86 kilos) which is still massively overweight but it’s within safe parameters. I’ll no longer be obese. I’ll just be overweight. Down to a size 16; maybe even a 14 at a push. Hopefully a bra size down too – from a 42C to a 40something. I’d bite your legs off for that right now.
If I get seven off then my total loss will be 24 pounds (11 kilos) in six months. Entirely doable and entirely healthy weight loss.
I’m going to take up my free gym membership just as soon as I’ve found some stylish workout gear. Well if you’re going to workout, may as well use it as an excuse to buy something nice to wear while doing it. I remember from my dance hall days that just pulling on a leotard, a pair of footless tights and leggings was enough to make me feel like a dancer and want to rush down to my dance class like the girl from Flashdance oh what a feeling! (Crap film/great video).
And the time is right… for sticking to a diet! I said earlier how much nicer it is to be slim in Summer than fat. And how much easier it is to follow a diet. Salads and Summery frocks do so well go together. I have time, just about, to get down to a decent weight before the Summer’s out. I want to hit Autumn considerably lighter than I hit Summer.
We’ll see if I get there. Wish me luck. I know you are. And thanks. Have a lovely Saturday and a great weekend.
