I haven’t blogged for nearly a week now. Why? To be perfectly frank with you, because I couldn’t think of anything to say! I know, shocking isn’t it? Who’d have thunk it eh? Me without a thing to say. The diet is going well. I’m back on track after my off-piste not Paleo week in Portmeirion and the equally off-piste week which followed. It’s going well. Went bit off the diet at weekend but then that’s what weekends are for.
Right now I am kind of settling into a four days on/three days off kind of pattern. So I stick to Paleo rigidly in the week, well Monday to Thursday, then on Friday night I’ll have a drink and from that does so much else flow. As I sit here now, Wednesday lunchtime with the lovely sun streaming through my window, I haven’t had any breakfast. Haven’t eaten anything major now since my tea last night at 5.30pm. I was going for the 16:8 I’ve talked about before but it’s more like 19:5 now, ie 19 hours since I ate. The 5 is the small window of eating. So how do I feel, given that I was someone who suffered from low blood sugar pangs once?
Feeling great
It feels great. I am barely hungry at all. I never imagined I could be kind of person who didn’t bother to eat a meal because, well, I couldn’t be bothered! And I wasn’t hungry. I never thought I could turn self into kind of person who forgot to eat but as I sat here clicking away this morning it took a while to sink in. To remember I’d forgotten to eat breakfast.
My blood sugar seems fine. This is what high-protein diets can do for you. You don’t need to go Paleo as I have or Atkins or follow any of the other high-protein diets on the market. You can simply cut calories or cut back if you like but make sure you get the bulk of the calories you do eat from protein foods. They fill you further and keep you going longer.
!!WARNING: might be TMI for some!!
And now for something I haven’t mentioned before on this blog but which is shouting out at me to do so. This might gross you out a bit so if you’re a bit squeamish and don’t want to read about matters digestional, stop reading now!
Still with me? Right. Here goes. Lots of people seem to think that a diet like mine full of protein and high fat foods but very little carb will be bad for my digestive system. It may, in short, bind me up something rotten. Which is very uncomfortable. I’m here to tell you that this is NOT the case with Paleo. My breath doesn’t smell either. I go regularly. My system works fine. In fact, better if anything. You don’t need all that high-carb fibre to stay regular. High fat will do the job just as well… if anything, a lot better than bloaty fibre-filled meals. They always made me feel far more uncomfortable than my high-fat diet does.
In a word, or slogan I should say, Paleo makes the going great.
And on that note, if you’re still with me, thanks for reading and I may return later in the week if I can think of something I want to say!
