I’ve come to diet with you again. Oh boy I am SO glad to be back on the diet after yesterday’s ridiculous over indulgences. It was like a licence to binge and oh boy, did I binge. I binged to the point that I felt sick and yet STILL I carried on eating. And drinking.
It’s a massive relief to be back dieting today. Yesterday I felt as if someone or something had reached inside my inner organs and stretched them. It was a really horrible feeling. One I can’t recommend to anyone.
If it’s possible to have a cake hangover, I had it! Though I suspect it was a sugar hangover that really got me in its grip. That and the grain I had from the cake. You would think would you not that eating a high-fat diet would make you feel a bit sick sometimes? As if food was sitting on your chest and refusing to do down? But fat doesn’t do that to me no. Bread, cake, grain does.
From starting out as a sceptic I am now fast reaching the conclusion that grain can in some cases cause a bad reaction in some people. And seems I’m one of them. Hands up, I had a slice of thick and thickly-buttered toast with my breakfast yesterday. Then cake. Then a bit more cake. I think it’s this I paid for. Heartburn was like I’d drunk acid and it was burning my windpipe.
I feel a lot better today now I’m back on Paleo so who knows? Perhaps there is something in this carbs are bad for you lark? I hope a day’s bingeing and stupid over indulgence doesn’t kibosh my diet. I doubt an isolated day will do that much harm. Thing is not to starve to make up for it for there dieting friends lies the evil of the yoyo and the ping pong and the merry go round and other cliched fairground rides we can never get off. Best way to handle a binge is NOT to starve yourself after but to go back to normal. Write the day off and say as President Bartlet always said, what’s next?
And here’s what I’m doing to do about Easter. I am not buying an egg. I’m waiting till next week when the really expensive ones with the 70 per cent proof cocoa are reduced to half price and then I might buy one. And eat just a little bit at a time which I find I can do with chocolate.
I’m looking forward to sleeping a lot better tonight without grain causing inflammation and heartburn. Carbs be gone! Carbs? NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! Protein paleo, oh yes!
